Common Wealth Murals is currently offering a Community Mural Training for the Summer of 2026. We also offer virtual courses designed to help artists grow their skills in mural design and project management.

The 2026 Community Mural Training Program Artist Call

Common Wealth Murals (CWM) is accepting applications from artists and muralists for a paid Community Mural Training that will culminate in the creation of three large-scale public murals in Holyoke, MA’s Puerto Rican Cultural District and 2 in Springfield, MA.

This intensive, hands-on training is designed for artists who want to deepen their skills in community-engaged mural making while working alongside experienced muralists on real public art projects. Participants will gain practical experience in every phase of the mural fabrication process, from preparing mural panels and facilitating community paint days to large-scale painting techniques and permanent mural installation.

Through this intensive Community Mural Training, participants will learn how to:

  • Prepare polytab panels and organize murals for community painting

  • Facilitate community paint days using the GoodSpace Method

  • Paint effectively at mural scale

  • Install permanent outdoor polytab murals

  • Work collaboratively as part of a professional mural production team

  • Navigate the technical, logistical, and public-facing aspects of large-scale mural projects

The Muralist’s Toolkit: Mural Project Planning from Vision to Execution

Learn how to take a mural project from concept to completion in this seven-week, expert-led online course. This course combines engaging instruction, group collaboration, and real-world applications.
