MURALS AND MORE

Since 2019, we have created dozens of murals, many of which were done using a community-engaged process which involved several thousand people in the design and painting of the murals. CWM manages the installation of individual murals and other public art installations and has co-produced Springfield’s 3 graffiti jams. CWM is also the co-founder and co-facilitator of the Community Mural Institute (CMI).

COMMUNITY MURAL INSTITUTE

The Community Mural Institute (CMI) is a joint project of GoodSpace Murals and Common Wealth Murals. The CMI combines classroom instruction and hands-on training, networking with established muralists, and supplemental training opportunities for participants. It is appropriate for both early-stage muralists and established muralists looking to learn this technique. The participants create murals through the process, engaging community groups in both the design and painting.

FRESH PAINT SPRINGFIELD

We produce the annual Fresh Paint Springfield mural festival in Springfield, MA. Fresh Paint inspires the enthusiastic engagement of a large and diverse group of people in Springfield’s renaissance. The murals and events boost economic activity, improve perceptions of Springfield, and celebrate Springfield’s unique and diverse community and history.

ABOUT

In just a few years, CWM has established itself as the leading public art organization in WMass. We have established a trusted reputation of supporting and promoting BIPOC artists and creating large-scale permanent works of public art that reflect the current and future demographics of Springfield as a global majority city. CWM is also proud to have created a growing expectation among Springfield residents, building owners, nonprofits, and funders that the public should be centered in the creation of public art.
